Regarding the topic of the article, this analysis of OpenAI’s shift from just replying to queries to actively resolving user intent is realy spot-on. It definetly highlights how these AI systems are not just tools anymore but are becoming key players in the digital economy, reshaping everything from how we search to how we buy.

The cloud infrastructure angle is really intresting here. If OpenAI can monetize search intent at scale, they reduce dependency on Microsoft's Azure while Google and Meta potentialy deepen their collabaration around TPUs. The timing with Meta exploring Google's TPU infrastructure makes this Shopping Research rollout feel less like a feature and more like a strategic repositioning. Does OpenAI have the infrastructre capacity to handle this kind of query volume without Microsoft?

MSFT is a major shareholder, why don’t they have to do it separately?

imo this is not help openAI. i dont think the good people will be loyal to any version of AI. peeps will use the free version of x,y,z one week & another a,b,c version the following week. i dont think anybody cares as much as the company(s) trying investing all the $ into these projects. the best thing that could happen (imo) are the upgrades to infrastructure and the grid in general. i saw where (maybe it was Illinois) AMZN is putting in data centers, upgrading infrastrux, and the good people will not pay higher rates…
